The 6th Annual Fallen Marine Memorial Run is being held at the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre in Station Square on August 27, 2011! Registration starts at 8am, the ride will leave the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at approx 11:30am and head to Jay’s Sports Bar at Southpointe for refreshments, etc. We will leave Jay’s Sports Bar at approx 3:30pm and return to the Amphitheatre for games, a chinese auction, live bands, etc. Hope to see you there!!!!

Pirate Parrot's Cruise for a Cure

The Pirate Parrot, in partnership with Mosites Motorsports and Pirates Charities, is going to hold his very own 2nd annual charity bike ride, leaving Philadelphia on July 29th and arriving in Pittsburgh on July 31st.

The 350-mile trek will span the entire Commonwealth in an effort to raise awareness and funding for Prostate Cancer Research. But the Pirate Parrot can't do it alone! As a result of the generosity of donors during the 2010 Cruise for a Cure, the Parrot raised $6,685. Please help the Parrot do even better in 2011!

You can sponsor the Parrot during his ride either by making a one-time flat contribution or by pledging as little as $.05 per-mile! All monies raised are tax deductible and will benefit The Western Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Altoona Event - Saturday, July 30, 2011

11am - 1pm at Altoona Giant Eagle (Logan Town Center)

The Pirate Parrot will be joined by friends from the Altoona Curve to help promote the Pirate Parrot's Cruise for a Cure to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer. All fans who donate will receive either an autographed Parrot Cruise for a Cure card, Inflatable Pirate Parrot doll or a Pirate Parrot Cruise for a Cure bobblehead based on their donation amount. Grant Jackson and Kent Tekulve will also be on hand signing autographs for fans.

State College Event - Saturday, July 30, 2011

6:30pm - end of game at Medlar Field and Lubrano Park

First Band Announced for Fallen Marine Ride

Mid Life Crisis! is a rock n’ soul band that has been playing clubs and
festivals in the east suburbs for the last few years. The six member band
includes: Phil Hilf Vocals, John Alton Guitar, Vince Taglieri Drums, Bill Bruce Guitar, Eric Demeri Bass.

These guys are really dedicated to the music. The format is a bluesy version
of classic soul and rock tunes. Their set lists feature: Sam & Dave, CCR,
Johnny Cash, Wilson Picket, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Rolling Stones, Elvis,
ZZ Top, Chuck Berry, and many more.

What sets this band apart is that they do all of their shows for charity!

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is proud to be hosting the Steel City Police Motor Unit Skills Competition June 16^th through the 18^th 2011. The Steel City Police Motor Unit Competition is a way for motor officers to improve their riding skills, exchange new training ideas and improve or create interagency relationships. It is also an opportunity to give back to the community that supports law enforcement. The Steel City Police Motor Unit Skills Competition is a non-profit event that will help support The Wounded Warriors Project

Let's Roll Flight 93 Memorial Ride

Concept

September 11, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States – as well as the first American victory in the war on terrorism.

Together, the passengers and crew of Flight 93 became true heroes who took action in defense of our country. We will never forget them.

That is why we are organizing Let’s Roll, a motorcycle event to honor the 40 heroes and to raise funds for the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Currently, there are nine groups of 40 bikes ("flight") located in eight flight paths – Erie, Pittsburgh, Meadville/Conneaut Lake, Williamsport, Cranberry Township, Fairfax, VA, Philadelphia and Pottsville. On September 10, 2011, each group will converge at the memorial site in Shanksville.

Each bike will be issued a memorial flag bearing the name of one of the 40 heroes of Flight 93 that will be attached to their motorcycle during the ride to Shanksville. They also will receive an exclusive patch and t-shirt bearing the official “Let’s Roll: Flight 93 Memorial Ride” design.

All proceeds raised from the ride will directly benefit the Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign.

You or your organization can sponsor a rider or group of riders.

Each rider can raise their sponsorship through individual fundraising efforts.

All “flights” will gather in or around Somerset, Pennsylvania on September 10, 2011 for a pre-ride gathering (details to be announced).

All “flights” will ride together in numerical order to the Flight 93 National Memorial site for the September 11, 2011 memorial and dedication service.
